A: The Channel Gateway normally utilizes the mount messages (via the Load Display command) to recognize the mount request in z/OS and MVS environments. VSE systems do not issue such a command. By the use of special Luminex mainframe software, tmount, mount requests can be communicated to the Channel Gateway. VSE's Automatic Volume Recognition (AVR) will then recognize the newly mounted tape.
